Villa Christine: a restoration that combines history and energy efficiency

In the heart of Gallarate, Villa Christine represents a piece of architectural history, built in 1908 with a refined and elegant style. However, like many historic buildings, the structure had a high thermal dispersion and obsolete systems, making a deep renovation necessary.

The restoration intervention had a dual objective: to preserve the authenticity and charm of the villa and, at the same time, to improve its energy performance, ensuring living comfort and sustainability. Thanks to careful design and the use of innovative technologies, Villa Christine has achieved the prestigious energy class A3, drastically reducing consumption and emissions.

Interventions carried out

To improve the efficiency of the villa, the restoration was carried out on-site, allowing for an understanding and respect for the typological nature of the building. Every architectural detail was meticulously crafted to preserve the original style without compromising its aesthetics. The main interventions included:

  • Conservative restoration of the facades
The external surfaces of the villa have been restored with meticulous craftsmanship, reinstating friezes, cornices, and window surrounds to maintain the historical character of the building intact. Even the sills have been restored, ensuring stylistic consistency and greater durability over time.

  • Advanced thermal insulation
A crucial aspect of the redevelopment concerned the insulation of the building envelope. The pillars that crown the building have been treated with specific insulating materials, reducing heat loss without altering the architectural appearance.

  • Efficiency improvements of the systems
To enhance internal comfort and optimize consumption, the villa has been equipped with state-of-the-art air conditioning systems, capable of providing high performance with a low environmental impact.

  • Integrated photovoltaic system
The installation of a photovoltaic system allows Villa Christine to produce renewable energy, reducing dependence on the power grid and lowering CO₂ emissions.

  • Sustainable mobility
To complete the refurbishment with a green perspective, an infrastructure for electric vehicle charging has been implemented, promoting more sustainable mobility for residents and visitors.

Results and benefits

Thanks to these interventions, Villa Christine has achieved an exceptional leap in quality from an energy perspective, reaching class A3 and ensuring significant savings on consumption. The interior environments now offer superior thermal comfort, with optimal temperatures in every season and improved air quality.

This project demonstrates how the restoration of a historic building can combine enhancement of architectural heritage and energy efficiency, providing a concrete example of sustainable innovation while respecting tradition.
