Efficiency, comfort, and sustainability: Energy retrofit of a residential building with three units
In a constantly evolving urban context, even existing buildings can play a leading role in the energy transition. It is in this spirit that the intervention for energy upgrading and significant second-level renovation of a residential building composed of three housing units was carried out, with the aim of improving energy performance, internal comfort, and environmental sustainability.
A careful and coordinated project that impacted both the building envelope and the heating systems, respecting the original construction characteristics while looking towards the future.
Interventions carried out
Thermal insulation of the building envelope
Installation of the thermal coat on all external surfaces to reduce heat loss and improve the energy efficiency of the building.
Insulation of the upper side of the slabs towards the attic, a critical point often overlooked, which in this case has been addressed to optimize overall thermal performance.
Replacement of windows
The original fixtures have been replaced with high-performance thermal and acoustic windows, which are able to increase internal comfort and contribute to the overall efficiency of the building.
Technological systems and renewable sources
Installation of a photovoltaic system, for the self-production of electricity from solar energy.
New hybrid systems, which combine different technologies to maximize energy efficiency and optimize consumption based on the actual needs of the three residential units.
Achieved results
Significant improvement of the energy class, with a reduction of losses and an increase in autonomous energy production.
Greater living comfort, thanks to the thermal stability of indoor environments and the reduction of external noise.
Energy cost savings, guaranteed by high-efficiency systems and the use of renewable energy.
Enhancement of real estate assets, thanks to an intervention that combines aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability.
